Submission process

What to expect
at the laboratory.

Submitting a stone for analysis is straightforward. Specimens are received in person at our 6th-floor counter. You do not need a prior appointment for standard submissions, though one is recommended for large parcels or Saturday visits.

01

Bring your stone.

Transport your gemstone in a secure container. Individual stones should be wrapped in diamond papers or placed in gem jars. For parcels, use a sealed parcel paper or zip-lock bag with a clear label. We do not require insurance documentation at intake, but recommend you insure high-value specimens in transit.

02

Register at the counter.

At the reception counter, our team will log your specimen, confirm the service you require, and issue a receipt. Each stone is assigned a unique reference number that tracks it through the analytical workflow. You will receive a copy of the intake record with the expected completion date.

03

Analysis and reporting.

Standard turnaround is five to seven working days from the date of submission. Your stone is examined using our analytical workflow of six advanced techniques: microscopy, LA-ICP-MS, EDXRF, Raman spectroscopy, UV-VIS-NIR, and FTIR. The specific combination of techniques depends on the service requested. We will contact you if any findings require discussion before the report is finalised.

04

Collect your report.

When analysis is complete, we will notify you by phone or email. Your stone and report can be collected in person from our 6th-floor reception during opening hours. Please bring your intake receipt and a form of identification. Payment is due at the point of collection.

Arrange your visit

Tell us what
you are bringing.

Walk-in submissions are welcome during opening hours, but a note in advance helps for large parcels, Saturday visits, or anything time-sensitive. Tell us the stone and the service you need, and the laboratory will confirm the details.

Before you visit

Pricing and
