These terms govern the gemstone testing and analytical services provided by ICA Gem Laboratories Co., Ltd. (“ICA | GemLab”, “we”, “us”), a company registered in Thailand with its principal place of business at 919/7-8, 6th Floor, Jewelry Trade Center, Silom Road, Bangrak, Bangkok 10500.
1. Scope of services
ICA | GemLab provides identification, geographic origin determination, and treatment analysis for coloured gemstones. We do not provide diamond grading, valuation, or appraisal services. Our reports record the findings of analytical testing on a specific specimen at a specific time. A report is a scientific document, not a guarantee of value, authenticity, or commercial grade.
2. Specimen submission and care
Specimens are submitted in person at our Bangkok headquarters. Upon submission, each specimen is assigned a unique reference number and logged into our chain-of-custody system. We exercise reasonable professional care in the handling of all specimens. However, gemstone testing requires physical examination under instruments including laser ablation, which may leave microscopic marks invisible to the naked eye. By submitting a specimen, you acknowledge and accept this inherent requirement of the analytical process.
3. Liability for specimens
While specimens are in our custody, our liability for loss or damage is limited to the replacement value of the stone as declared at the time of submission, up to a maximum of USD 10,000 per specimen unless a higher value is agreed in writing before testing begins. We are not liable for loss or damage caused by inherent characteristics of the specimen, including but not limited to pre-existing fractures, inclusions, or instability. We strongly recommend that clients insure high-value specimens independently prior to submission.
4. Limitations of analytical science
Gemological analysis is an interpretive science. Some questions can be answered with high confidence. Others require interpretation. Some cannot be answered conclusively at all. Our reports reflect the current state of gemological knowledge and the capabilities of our instrumentation at the time of testing. Findings may differ from those of other laboratories due to differences in methodology, instrumentation, or reference data. We do not guarantee that our findings will be accepted by any third party, nor that future advances in analytical technique will not alter the conclusions reached.
5. Report issuance and reissuance
Reports are issued in the format selected at the time of submission. Duplicate reports may be requested for a fee. We reserve the right to decline reissuance if we determine that the specimen has been altered since the original examination. All ICA | GemLab reports can be verified through our online verification portal at reports.icagemlab.com.
6. Payment
Fees are published on our fee schedule and are payable in full at the point of collection. All prices are quoted in US dollars and are subject to applicable Thai taxes. We reserve the right to update our fee schedule at any time. The fee applicable to your submission is the fee in effect at the time of submission.
7. Turnaround
Standard turnaround is five to seven working days from the date of submission. This is an estimate, not a guarantee. Turnaround may be extended for complex specimens, large parcels, or periods of high demand. We will notify you if a significant delay is expected.
8. Intellectual property
All content on this website, including text, images, photomicrographs, and design elements, is the property of ICA Gem Laboratories Co., Ltd. and is protected under Thai and international copyright law. Content may not be reproduced without written permission, except for personal, non-commercial use.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand. Any dispute arising from these terms or our services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Bangkok, Thailand.
