Amira Hatta receives a NextGen Coloured Gem Excellence Award
Amira Hatta, Managing Director of ICA | GemLab, is one of 18 recipients of the NextGen Coloured Gem Excellence Awards 2026, run by the Jewellery World Awards.
Bangkok, 30 September 2026. Amira Hatta, Managing Director of ICA | GemLab Global, has received a NextGen Coloured Gem Excellence Award 2026. The award was presented on 16 September 2026 at the JGW September reception in Hong Kong. She is one of 18 recipients named by the Jewellery World Awards, the programme run by Informa Markets Jewellery and previously the JNA Awards.
What the award recognises
The 2026 programme recognises professionals aged 45 and under who are, in the organiser’s words, driving the future of the coloured gemstone trade, judged on creativity, innovation and sustainability. Recipients are selected by Informa Markets Jewellery leadership against those criteria, in consultation with industry associations and gemstone authorities.

The laboratory’s year
Over the past year the laboratory has applied AI-supported checks across its testing workflow, added chemical analysis to its reports, extended its origin reference data to more than 50 deposits including Ethiopia, and is preparing to publish research on Paraíba and copper-bearing tourmaline from the new Ethiopian deposit at Abuloo. ICA | GemLab India is due to open later this year.
